Lehigh CCS Project Activity

Seeking Expression of Interest (EOI)

Lehigh Cement, a division of Lehigh Hanson Materials Limited, is conducting a CCS Feasibility Study in partnership with the International CCS Knowledge Centre.  Lehigh is seeking submissions to an Expression of Interest (EOI) to determine interest in utilizing and storing the carbon dioxide (CO2) should a commercial-scale CCS project at Lehigh’s Edmonton, Alberta cement plant proceed.

Completion of the feasibility study is anticipated in the autumn of 2021 with a decision on whether to move to the next step of a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) at that time.

The information submitted by interested proponents may be used (under a confidentiality agreement), by Lehigh to assess the business case for this opportunity.  Following the EOI process, Lehigh may choose to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to proponents interested in developing a long-term relationship for the off take of the CO2.

Proposed Timeline

This EOI will close on December 31, 2020. Results will be finalized and announced during within the first quarter of 2021.
