This fall, the Knowledge Centre will host three workshops for our Carbon Management Series, bringing together industry, government, Indigenous communities, technology developers, and investors to advance carbon management projects from concept to commercial scale. Through collaborative discussions and regionally focused recommendations, the series will identify practical solutions to address technical, financial, regulatory, and commercial challenges across Canada.
Saskatchewan
This workshop will explore the technical, financial, regulatory, and commercial conditions required to advance carbon management projects in Saskatchewan, and the strategic opportunity for CO2-Enhanced Oil Recovery.
Alberta
This workshop will explore the policies, economics, infrastructure, financing mechanisms, workforce development strategies, carbon markets, and regulatory frameworks required to advance carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS), waste-to-energy carbon capture and storage (WtECCS), and direct air capture (DAC) projects. Participants will examine pathways to reaching final investment decisions, draw lessons from Alberta’s experience in storage development, discuss opportunities for Indigenous participation, and identify the actions needed to strengthen Alberta’s competitiveness and leadership in carbon management through 2035 and beyond.
