Who we are
At the International CCS Knowledge Centre (Knowledge Centre), we take climate action seriously. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing large-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects as a critical means of managing greenhouse gas emissions and achieving the world’s ambitious climate goals.
The Knowledge Centre provides independent, expert advisory services for CCS projects across heavy-emitting industries based on our team’s unique experience developing and executing the world’s first fully integrated post-combustion CCS facility on a coal-fired power plant. We have a proven track record of helping our clients lower costs, reduce risk and improve the performance of CCS projects across industries and technology platforms using the latest knowledge and lessons learned from major projects across the globe.
Our focus is on understanding and protecting the owner’s interest in large-scale CCS project investments, offering practical guidance in all aspects of CCS project development, from strategic analysis, business case advice and stakeholder engagement support to technology selection, pilot testing, feasibility and front end engineering design (FEED) studies, project permitting, construction, commissioning, transition to operations, and ongoing optimization and trouble-shooting.
We also provide input to policy development and promote broad collaboration between stakeholders to enhance understanding of the critical role CCS plays in global decarbonization efforts and accelerate the deployment of new CCS projects around the world.

WHO YOU ARE
The Contracts & Corporate Governance Advisor plays a critical role in supporting the Chief Financial Officer/VP, Corporate Services in managing the lifecycle of contracts and developing and assisting with corporate governance within the organization. The role involves developing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with vendors and customers, advising internal stakeholders, providing contract governance and ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company policies. Additionally, the Advisor will play a supporting role in guiding organizations on best practices, regulations, and strategies related to corporate governance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, prepare, revise, and support the execution of contracts while adhering to company policies and regulations.
- Develop and implement contract governance policies and processes for creating, approving, executing, and renewing contracts, while maintaining compliance with governance.
- Negotiate and/or support the negotiations of contracts with vendors and customers, working collaboratively with internal teams to ensure that all contracts meet the organization's needs and goals under the organization’s risk profile.
- Manage the change, renewal and termination process for contracts, ensuring timely and effective resolution of any issues.
- Assist departments in interpretation of contracts and other contract matters, as required.
- Seek opportunities to improve in contract management practices.
- Develop and/or maintain a contract repository that is organized and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
- Identify, assess and mitigate contract risks and provide solutions to issues that may arise.
- Develop and/or support the development and management of corporate governance policies and processes.
- Provide support on matters relating to the board of directors and senior management, including with respect to board meetings and corporate governance matters.
- Collaborating with other functions and stakeholders with respect to board meeting preparation and logistics, corporate governance and corporate matters.
- Communicating effectively with management team, Board members and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Preparing documents relating to governance actions.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in contract management, procurement, or legal services.
- Experience with contract and corporate governance processes and policies.
- Knowledge of contract law and regulations.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in a Microsoft O365.
- Ability to work independently and exercise discretion and judgment in handling confidential information.

Senior Policy Analyst

WHO YOU ARE
The Senior Policy Analyst will analyze and aid in the delivery of strategic advisory services at the International CCS Knowledge Centre (Knowledge Centre) while also driving the formulation and execution of policies and strategies pertinent to regulatory affairs and stakeholder engagement. As a part of the policy, regulatory, and stakeholder relations team, this role will offer comprehensive analytical, strategic, and operational guidance. The successful candidate will establish themselves as a trusted advisor to clients, that aligns seamlessly with the Knowledge Centre’s objectives and aspirations.
You will have excellent interpersonal and project management skills as part of a cross-functional analyst team to engage with internal and external stakeholders to support project development. You will use strong communication skills to convey technical information to executive management and clients in a clear and concise manner.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, manage, and execute strategic advisory service projects, ensuring deliverables are met within budget and clients are satisfied.
- Maintain a positive ongoing relationship with current partners and offer new ways to grow partnerships.
- Keep abreast of industry developments in CCS in order to prepare discussion papers, analysis reports, legislation and regulatory reviews, briefings, and communication tool kits.
- Research, monitor, and provide analysis of existing and emerging programs and policy areas on the federal, provincial/state, and local levels related to industry factors impacting carbon capture and storage (CCS).
- Participate in research projects on which you are leading or supporting to produce policy briefs, memos, and full-length reports which further the Knowledge Centre’s goal of being a Trusted Advisor.
- Contribute to a range of strategy, policy, partnership, and initiative development and implementation related to large-scale CCS Projects.
- Lead and/or participate in cross-functional projects to support corporate strategic planning initiatives to achieve and expand upon organizational goals.
- Provide leadership and direction to project teams and/or assigned staff as required.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in public policy, economics, law, or another related equivalent AND/OR;
- Related professional designation(s) and/or certification(s) AND/OR;
- Several years of experience working in a relevant field, such as consulting, regulatory or public affairs, stakeholder engagement, or public policy.
- A strong understanding of climate mitigation and the CCS industry.
- Experience in contributing to, monitoring, and analyzing changes in the regulatory environment, and developing strategies to respond to these changes, and communicating with a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience working with government agencies and regulatory bodies.
- Experience in managing and leading projects in a client service environment.
- Must have excellent analytical, research, and writing skills to coordinate complex projects, with a high level of understanding pertaining to program, policy, and funding issues.
- Team player with the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships both internal and external to the organization.
- Results-oriented thinker, with the ability to manage and provide advice regarding complex and confidential issues with sensitivity and professionalism.
- Excellent facilitation, project management, decision-making, and oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work and manage in a changing environment and to foster a culture focused on safety, innovation, and teamwork.
