The International CCS Knowledge Centre will be attending the International Energy Association’s Clean Coal Centre’s 9^th Workshop on Cofiring Biomass with Coal in Japan. Cofiring biomass reduces emissions of CO2, introduces a reliable renewable energy source into the existing power plant and grid infrastructure, and increases the value of forestry by-products and agricultural wastes. Cofiring is well-established in Europe due to strong policy and regulatory support and has great potential in Asia.
